In corrosion science, mixed potential theory refers to principle that a corroding surface settles at the potential where the summed anodic and cathodic partial currents of independent reactions are equal. This meaning comes from Wagner (1938) in Zeitschrift für Elektrochemie und angewandte physikalische Chemie.[1]
