In comparative politics, polarized pluralism refers to a party system with more than five relevant parties, anti-system parties and wide ideological distance, producing centrifugal competition and oppositions on both flanks. This meaning comes from Sartori (1976) in Parties and Party Systems: a framework for analysis.[1]
