In structural biology, principle of minimal frustration refers to the idea that natural protein sequences evolved so that native contacts conflict as little as possible, giving a smooth, funnel-like route to the folded state. This meaning comes from Bryngelson (1987) in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.[1]
