● anchor · a standalone construct Nearest construct by meaningecosystemcompare the meaningsEvery construct on the map is compared with every other by the meaning of its definitions, and the closest one is surfaced here. The nearest construct to environment is ecosystem.
Hold this as a prompt, not a verdict. Two constructs sitting close in meaning is a reason to read them side by side and decide for yourself whether they are one idea under two names. It is not proof that they are. Compare the meanings in the Collider.
A single standalone construct; nearby constructs are located against it in the Collider. Tap a field for its definition, unit, and measures.
In organization theory, everything outside a firm's boundary that bears on how it operates: its customers, suppliers, competitors, regulators, and the broader economic and social conditions it cannot fully control. Dill's 1958 Environment as an Influence on Managerial Autonomy introduced the task environment as the outside parties relevant to a firm's goals; Emery and Trist's 1965 The Causal Texture of Organizational Environments then classified environments by how connected and turbulent they are. The referent is the external field of actors and conditions facing an organization, and it is not an organism's physical surroundings, a formal reward-returning system, or a program's execution context.[1][2]
