In grassland science, leaf stage grazing refers to timing ryegrass defoliation by the number of new leaves per tiller, usually between two and three, to balance plant reserves, forage quality and senescence. This meaning comes from Fulkerson (2001) in Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture.[1]
