Privacy, in plain words.

What we collect, why, and what we do not do.

What we collect

Your account. If you sign in, your email address and a password. The password is stored by our host, Netlify, in scrambled (hashed) form. We never see it.

Your profile. If you fill it in: your name, title, institution, field, ORCID iD, website and a line about your work. It is private, and appears publicly only on an author page after you claim a construct and we approve the claim.

What you send us. If you fill in a form (request access, contact, report or claim), what you type, including your email.

What you type into the tools. Searches, questions and invention descriptions are sent to our server to find matching meanings, and the answer comes back. We do not save them.

Models you save. If you press Save, the model (its constructs, arrows and the name you give it) is stored with our host, Netlify, under your account. Only you can see it. If you share a link, anyone with that link can view the model, read only, until you turn the link off.

What stays in your browser. A model you have not saved lives in the page address, and your sign-in is kept in your browser's storage.

Server logs. Like any website, our host keeps standard logs (such as IP address and the pages requested) to run and protect the site.

Fonts. Pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address when it sends them.

What we use it for

To run the site, let you sign in, answer your requests and messages, and keep out spam. We also count which universities and organizations use the tools, by the part of the email after the @. We may share those counts. We never share your email.

What we do not do

We do not sell or rent your information. There are no ads and no ad trackers. We share it only with the services that run the site (Netlify hosts the site, the sign-in and the forms), or if the law requires it.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Your profile and saved models go with it.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
