In plant reproductive biology, gynodioecy pathway to dioecy refers to a model in which dioecy evolves through an intermediate stage where female plants coexist with hermaphrodites, driven by inbreeding depression and resource reallocation. This meaning comes from Charlesworth (1978) in The American Naturalist.[1]
