One name. One construct. A landmark on the map.
● anchor · a standalone construct Nearest construct by meaningidentitycompare the meaningsEvery construct on the map is compared with every other by the meaning of its definitions, and the closest one is surfaced here. The nearest construct to IT identity is identity.
Hold this as a prompt, not a verdict. Two constructs sitting close in meaning is a reason to read them side by side and decide for yourself whether they are one idea under two names. It is not proof that they are. Compare the meanings in the Collider.

The extent to which a person views the use of a particular information technology as integral to who they are: someone high on it treats the tool as bound up with their self-image, so using it feels like an expression of themselves rather than a chore. Carter and Grover's 2015 paper Me, my self, and I(T) built this construct from identity theory in social psychology and defined it as an enduring, technology-specific attachment that shapes emotion, dependence, and behaviour toward the tool. The referent is a measured psychological tie between a person and a device or app, and it is unrelated to the sameness of two gene strings, a neutral element in algebra, or the philosopher's question of what makes a person the same over time.[1]
